On the afternoon of September 30th, Mr. Desmond Canning spoke to Grade 6P about his Inuk heritage. Cst. Rob Cleveland joined us in our learning. The students learned about the history of Newfoundland and Labrador and colonization; the meaning of Inukshuks; and many other things. We created Key chains made out of seal skins in the shape of Inukshuks, and even learned how to high kick. The class was very excited and engaged with Desmond's lesson. We are very grateful for the time that he spent with us. On Friday, September 27th, Westwood Elementary School will have our annual Terry Fox Walk.
Our school goal is to raise $700. Please help us achieve our goal by sending in Toonie for Terry, on the 27th. All money raised in Terry Fox's name is used for cancer research in Canada. Please help us support this worthy cause. www.terryfox.org Salt Meeting Dates have been set for the 2019-2020 school year. We will meet every second Thursday, until the end of the school year.
